Investigations for Defying Optimal Hydraulic Regime of One of Sofia Heating Power Plants OC "Zemliane" and Introducing Regulation Speed Systems for the Pumps of the Heating Power Plant
Abstract:
The Project
is developed under the Contract No.3/01.09.2002 between "Toploficatzia
- Sofia" Plc. and Sofia Energy Agency - SOFENA.
The results of hydraulic and water temperature modeling are presented in the
Project. Real data for the heating plant, the configuration and characteristics
of the distribution network are used during modeling. Verification of the model
is carried out with real recordings in the dispatchers' reports for three typical
days in 2002 - cold winter day, hot winter day and summer day. The results of
the verification are quite satisfactory. The technical feasibility for optimal
control of the speed of the main network pumps is confirmed. Some important
conclusions about the heating plant operation with varying loads, as a result
of the climate changes and the diurnal variability due to the human behavior,
are drawn.
Research on the Landfill Gas Utilization Possibility on Municipality Solid Waste Landfill Suhodol for Electricity and Heat Energy Recovery
Abstract:
The Project
is developed under the Contract No.9/08.01.2003 between Sofia Municipality and
Sofia Energy Agency - SOFENA.
The municipality landfill Suhodol is located 1.2 km far from the Suhodol district
of Sofia. The landfill is divided into two parts: the first has been in operation
since 1985 to 1994 and some 500 000 t waste have been dumped there. The second
part is under operation since 1997. The technologies for Landfill gas Utilization
and the best world practices were investigated. The gas potential over 15 years
time horizon was obtained in three different ways: by rule of thumb, by gas
probes, by computer model. The place characteristics and waste composition ware
taken into account. The economics and investment possibilities, financial plan
and prognoses were also presented.
Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in Sofia's Surroundings
Assessment
of the potential for renewable energy implementation (sun, wind, hydroenergy,
small plants, geothermal energy, biomass and small and micro cogeneric plants)
in the Sofia region
As a result of preliminary study that takes into account the conditions specific for the region, the following energy capacities are envisaged for implementation until year 2010:
-solar termal installations - 11MW for more than 18 schools and kindergartens and other sport objects and dwellings
-PV installations - 0.05MW for telecomunication objects, huts, observatories and other remute objects
-Wind power plants -10MW
-Small hydro power stations - 30MW
-Geothermal installations - 15MW
-Biomass installations - need additional estimations
-Small cogeneration installations running on natural gas and biogas - 30MW
Program for Reducing the Atmospheric Air Pollution Levels in Sofia Municipality Area
The
program work consists of the following steps:
-characterization and climate features of the region;
-analysis of the current conditions;
-legislation assessment;
-health risk definition;
-list of the large sources of pollution and their characteristics;
-characterization of the transport and the influence to the air;
-modeling of the air pollution;
-development of measures for improving air quality;
Program
goals:
-improving air quality;
-reducing health risk caused by the air pollution;
-giving set of the measures for reducing air pollution caused by the larger
industrial objects and transport sector.
The program is accepted for implementation by the City Council
